An album with "California Dreamin'" and "Help Me, Rhonda" sells more than one without.

You may have a point there...

dont like this version. Why not do a remake from the song: Dont go near the water. Like that one a lot, especcialy the chorus with Carl.

Don't like 'em.

I find myself disappointed with most power pop that claims to be influenced by my favorite bands from the 60's. Some catchy tunes but they always lose me. Probably because the songs are so cloying.

One power pop band I like is Cheap Trick and their cover of 'In The Street' rules.

Amazing!

They played 'Love Reign O'er Me' and Roger nailed it. They also played an overlooked song from Who's Next that's one of my favorites, 'Getting in Tune'.

Roger's voice really hasn't changed much. I guess he didn't smoke and abuse himself too much.

Pet Sounds does sound better in mono,i just have the mono/stereo version, I realize it's not the best versionin the world, blah, blah, but I like it. I think most of their early stuff better in mono except for Surfin' USA.

My girlfriend called Borders (once again) this morning. She told one of the other managers that we will be coming in from Canada and asked if it's alright if we can just show them the recipets from here, he replied with "Well then, we'll make an exception for you".

wont happen the vocals are lost ala good vibrations.

At least a stereo instrumental track would be cool. I HATE mono!
Listening to some records in Mono/Stereo, PS and Sgt. Pepper just thinking of two, are completely different listening experiences to me anyway. It was earth-shattering. Do your ears a favor (if you haven't already) and listen to any PS track in mono and then in stereo. The clarity in stereo may be better, but I think that mono will be preferable. Oh well, to each is own.

Cool! How were Daltrey's vocals?

I saw Roger and Pete at the Nokia theater in Los Angeles. It was a great show, really powerful stuff.

Just one problem. I don't like the guy who plays bass, he really blew on the bass solo for My Generation. I really don't know why they've kept him this long. This is the third time I've seen them. The first time I saw them, John Entwistle was on bass.

Whatever guys, I don't care if he re-covers songs, it's a NEW SONG from one of THE BEACH BOYS. Shouldn't that be all that matters at this point?
It was a new song back in 1965.

You've got to pull it together man! Mono is part of what pulled me in deeper to the BB world. I remember being a kid and listening to my Mom's copy of Pet sounds and not understanding what instruments could be making those sounds. It made me listen over and over. The New stereo mixes are pretty great too. But mono, man, is where it's at.

Is a 1 too high?  Afterall, it's got GV and H&V.

Is Al doing this because HE finds it fulfilling?
Hopefully. Because whether I agree with him (I don't: vehemently), that's the reason to make music. If he sat around in focus groups or reading message boards to hear what people wanted, I'd be far more disappointed in him. A musician should do what a musician wants to do. If I don't like it, that's my problem.

I wonder who Al listens to for feedback, if anybody?

Oh, I dunno, maybe he's listened to the people who've bitched every time he has recorded a new song.  As shown by the rapturous reception given to "PT Cruiser" and "California Energy Blues".  Fans will bite the hand no matter what it feeds them.

Or maybe he's noticed that Brian Wilson's comeback doesn't seem to have been hurt by a few re-recordings over the years...

Cheers,
Jon Blum
