Re: Need help for trip to LA [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 17 May 2008 04:38 PM CDT Would Dennis have wanted that Donna? http://www.hollywoodusa.co.uk/deathsites/basinc.htm How about raising a glass to him from a bar over looking the coast at sunset watching the surfers and sailboats? Remember he was buried at sea out there somewhere. |

Re: BW 88 studio talk [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 17 May 2008 04:08 PM CDT hey just wondering if anyone has ever heard any tapes of the 88 solo albums with studio chatter, etc. it would be interesting to hear how Brian was in the studio at this time and compare it with sixties session tapes Nope, but as you might imagine, I'd love to... |

Re: Need help for trip to LA [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 17 May 2008 03:46 PM CDT Pay your respects to Dennis at Basin C, 1100 is the slip number I think. It's off a street called Marquessa. Can I just walk out there? I know that the actual gate to the pier where the owners walk to get to their boats is locked, but can I at least walk that far so I can take a picture? Am I allowed to throw a rose in the water? Maybe I should skip that part. Thanks guys! |
Re: BW to Make Global Announcements at Capitol Records Monday [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 17 May 2008 03:33 PM CDT How plausible is this: Capitol agrees to release TLOS...in exchange, Brian agrees to allow Capitol to release a Smile sessions box set? I can dream, can't I? I may need to change my pants more then once if that happens. That would make two of us. Then again, in BB/BW-land, nothing surprises me. Stranger things have happened. I certainly don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we might see some archive material being made available in some form or another. Whatever did happen to the propsed Beach Boys's Central anyway. Another exciting possibility for US fans is that, IF the announcement is about TLOS, then Capitol may insist Brian does some promotion in some form............... You may get your TLOS concerts yet!!!! |
Re: Need help for trip to LA [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 17 May 2008 02:52 PM CDT There's a very nice picture of the former Wich stand, lit up at night, in a current LA Times story about Googie architecture. The article has a link to a Googie picture gallery that contains the photo: http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-trw-googie18-2008may18?page=1 |

Re: BW to Make Global Announcements at Capitol Records Monday [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 17 May 2008 12:47 PM CDT Hmm, well I had heard more TLOS recordings were done in late April. Don't know how credible it is, but if true I wonder if these were final touches. We shll find out soon enough. Very credible, but the late April sessions were not the 'final touches'. |
