New Scandinavian Theatre Concert: Beach Boys [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 26 May 2008 06:47 AM CDT This is a new fresh take on the great Beach Boys song catalog by director Cederholm & Brothers Hellemann at Aarhus Teater in Danish Jutland. Set in the old West 100 years ago, first half is from the perspective of the cowboys/gunmen with second half dedicated to the native Americans. Cutting edge choreography, scenography and music arrangements taking full advantage of the whole theatre room in 3 dimensions. Click on film 1 & film 2: http://www.teaterkoncertbeachboys.dk/

Re: The Mark Linett Thread [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 25 May 2008 10:55 PM CDT Hey Mark, if you check in, I've got a couple of questions for you to help my research: During the Desper era, Sunflower and Surf's Up: Were reverbs printed to tape most of the time? Were there ever occasions where the drum set was spread out across more than two tracks? I've seen a lot of the Sunflower track sheets, but not many Surf's Up ones...they all seem to have "Drums L" and "Drums R." To your ear, in those cases, does it sound like Steve was doing a "one low overhead over the hi-hat side and one over the floor tom plus a kick mic" kind of thing? And is there any processing on the drum tracks, like snare reverb, compression, etc? Just interested in your observations. Also: How often does it sound to you like the bass guitar is D.I.-ed on Sunflower/Surf's Up? Thanks.
Re: Check out Sundazed's site! [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 25 May 2008 10:22 PM CDT As much as I dig the new stuff (and believe me, I do), it's just as nice to hear little things we never heard before on the familiar stuff. I especially like the little touch of echo added to Ed Carter's guitar on the intro to "Love Surrounds Me", and the super funky keyboards on "Companion". Not to mention Dennis' vocals sounding better than ever. Way to go John Hanlon!
Re: Heights of the Beach Boys? [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 25 May 2008 10:03 PM CDT I believe Brian is 6'4". He certainly looks noticeably taller than most people, and if you're 6'2", you really don't. This has been debated before-- I wonder why no one asked Brian on the blueboard. I know Dennis and Carl were both under 6 feet. I always thought it was interesting that Brian somehow drank more milk and ate more spinach or something! Then again, I'm 8 inches shorter than my sister, so it happens.
