I just got back.  It was an incredible night...

I've got that boot.  Really nice packaging.  The track entitled "Julia" is actually "Sail On Sailor".  Brian dedicates it to Probyn Gregory's friend Julia, hence the title.  Smiley  Score one for the bootleggers!

Thanks! Is that the boot with Brian as some sort of Teletubby, surfing valiantly nevertheless, as the cover?

I gotta say, I liked "merda" better. Same thing with "fudge" vs "foda". The Portuguese swear words were one of the things that made this board unique.

Wasn't able to make it to the show . Sounded like a great lineup/cause/event. Any reports we unfortunate
non-attendees could vicariously delight in? 3D

I've always found the edit, or at least the timing, in I'm So Young to be kind of strange - the part where Mike goes "doo doo doo" and then Brian goes "Pretty soon..." - it feels a bit abrupt.

I mentioned this very same subject on another Beach Boys message board. I suspect that the awkward edit in "I'd Love Just Once To See You" may have been deliberate. It fits well with the general "off beat" mood of the entire album. It wouldn't surprise me if this is just another example of Brian's odd humor.

I'm referring to "The Little Girl I Once Knew", specifically at the part where Mike sings, "Look out, babe". Initially the instrumental takes had a 4 bar interval before the chorus but when the vocal overdubs proceed, the second bar is missing creating an unusual time shift (for Brian anyway) in the song.

"I'd Love Just Once To See You" in the section between "It's not too late for you to take a drive" and the "baa, ba, ba, ba's which has only six beats, not the usual eight (sounds like a hard edit).

"Transcendental Meditation" the first bar of "Ah, ah, ah's" is clipped and not a full 4/4.

Does anyone know why these happened? Was it caused by tape slippage? Was it a conscious decision on Brian's part (less likely IMO as it seems he liked to keep the rhythm constant)?

NEEEEERRRRRDDDDD!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL

Just kidding.

It's a common disco remix thing to do. There's a "jungle mix" of the Superman theme that has monkeys in it.

I read that Tandyn Almer is living in Washington D.C. Not sure what he's doing now though.

 Cool

I saw, somewhere, something about the possible release of a CD with Almer's demos from the 60's and 70's. I guess he's still 'around'.

Any idea just what kind of line-up would legally constitute the group to be able to use "The Beach Boys" on a album cover? Does it need the ok from Brother?

Remember the Nascar deal was "of the BBs".

If I remember, there has to be at least 1 Wilson in the group to be called The Beach Boys. AGD can correct me on this though.

But when Brian was a teenager, he was really skinny, wasn't he? Like, bony, even.

Around 1963 was his optimum, I'd say. He filled out, but he wasn't too heavy. In 1970 or so he lost weight, but I think he still sort of had the double chin. Kind of like 1966, no?

It looks like there are pet products on that shelf, in the lower right corner. I didn't know they had pet-health-care products even back then.

What's Almer done since the 70s? Is he even still alive?

Re: Radiant Radish Photos [Smiley Smile Message Board]

Yeah, that picture is deceiving, Brian really was about as fit as he'd been since he was a teenager at about that time.

But there's no denying it, Brian is just a big guy, even when in good health.  He exudes a certain magnitude in person.

Let us not forget Almer's apparently important contributions to Bong technology.
