Re: The Definitive Vocal Credits Thread... [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 30 Oct 2008 05:16 AM CDT That was Bruce on the 2007 God Only Knows preview clip! I remember this really sounding like Bruce too. But someone sounding like someone else is par for the course in BB land. Is there a link to this clip still out there somewhere?
Re: Doe D'oh! [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 30 Oct 2008 04:56 AM CDT But sometimes he did give us 'solid' information without giving sources, so he's bound to be questioned AGD is so well-informed on all things Beach Boys that I'm willing to take anything he's certain about as a fact. Even if he doesn't give his source.

Re: Who has been the greatest live act ever? [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 30 Oct 2008 03:13 AM CDT No, I am talking about the original Quadrophenia tour, Los Angeles Nov. 22, 1973 (on the 10th aniversary of the assasination of President Kennedy). They were flat. It did get a lot better at the end of the show and they did an (apparently rare for that time) encore. Townsend was unhappy with the performance and to his credit (and to some success) tried to fire things up near the end of the show.

Posted: 29 Oct 2008 08:59 PM CDT Charles LePage posted a link Ontario Emperor liked this "And though MCCormick admits she abused cocaine and suffered from bulimia as she struggled to find more TV work, she insists it was Landy's treatments that sent her spiralling into a deeper depression. She says, "A really unfortunate thing was that I ended up getting treated by Dr. Eugene Landy, who was Brian Wilson's shrink - who was awful, I have to say. He sent me back so much. He put me on drugs - I didn't know if I was going or coming - and what he did to Brian was just awful. "I'm surprised that I'm still alive, but I feel like there's so much hope out there for people who are going through what I've been through. You have to ask for help."" - Charles LePage I didn't realize that McCormick was "treated" by Eugene Landy. Oops. - Ontario Emperor

Re: Doe D'oh! [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 29 Oct 2008 08:27 PM CDT well that's frustrating, anyone know what board he moved to? I think he may be done on all message boards. When he left here I went over to Shut Down and he was also involved in a thread there were someone was questioning some piece of knowledge he obtained by asking the person in question himself. I think he just got fed up with people believing only what the want to believe. It's too bad because I've learned a lot from him in the short time I've been around here, so hopefully he'll be back. Yep, that's what it seems. And I agree with you 100%, I hope he does return, as he has a wealth of knowledge.

Re: Doe D'oh! [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 29 Oct 2008 07:21 PM CDT I appreciate everything AGD contributed here. He also shared a little bit of inside info with me via PM, which I really appreciated. Not too controversial, but maybe just some hints beyond the hints he's shared on the board. Andrew has gained the confidence of some of the insiders, and it puts him in a tough position if he learns something from the inside parties and people just blow it off (or at least do so in rude fashion, which I think was part of the problem). He can't even say all he knows about some things. I think I'd have second-hand post-traumatic stress syndrome if I knew some of the weird things that have happened in Beach Boys world, from childhood through now, that Andrew probably knows.

Re: The Beach Boys Love You [Smiley Smile Message Board] Posted: 29 Oct 2008 04:55 PM CDT The tune of Mona just came to me - out of the blue. I haven't listened to this in ages. It's a classic example of an elemental tune unlike anything preceding it, but appearing really basic and simple. It's a huge achievement, and if our Western culture was more ... cultural, Mona, and its second-cousin-twice-removed Shortening Bread would be default karaoke standards.
