Hope London's going to be on the itinerary... after all, the UK IS Brian's spiritual home -  if only we had the sunshine!

Crawdaddy's review of Love You [Smiley Smile Message Board]

It's in the Crate Digger column but given its tone it might as well be renamed the Barrel Scraper column!

I saw "McGUINN CLARK & HILLMAN" in a small club in 1979.  Great, Great show!  Gene Clark was amazing.  I was front and center at a small table.  Right before the show started, in came Tom Petty and Mike Campbell, who sat down at the table right next to me. (another great experience I had in the 70's was seeing the Hollies live at the Roxy in L.A., and Crosby & Nash sat right next to me.

Inspiration [Smiley Smile Message Board]

I'm sure it's been covered, but is the title Inspiration an actual song or just the church-organ part of good vibes? Somehow in my mind I got the notion of the latter being true. Anyone...?

Re: Holland [Smiley Smile Message Board]

I just got around to listening to this all the way through. What a great cut. Of course we have Sail On Sailor and Califorina Pt. 3 but we have the lovely "Steamboat" (a new personal fav. I think), Trader, Funky Pretty, and more. I give this one a 4 out of 5 easily. Does anyone think that the Wondermints lifted the melody from "Steamboat" for their song "Ride"? Maybe this has been mentioned before, not that it matters.. My ears caught that while listening to "Steamboat" just now. My only regret is not listening to this album sooner!

Although I did have to make my own "Holland" mix which replaces "The Trader", "Leaving This Town, and "Funky Pretty" with the "In Concert" versions which are killer. Plus, I added Denny's "Only With You" from the POB release just to see how it fit, and it fits pretty well.

Well, that review clears my question of why Paul Mertens wasn't with the band in the promo video. I work at a movie theater, although I don't know if this would get any attention in my area if it happened. But I would definitely travel to see this if it was reasonable.

I love--well, really like--Sally Can't Dance. Coney Island Baby, too. The pop Reed is a good Reed. I am with you on Magic and Loss.
