It all looks like Dr. Melinda Frankenstein's work to me.  I doubt Brian gives a turd about having his tips frosted.   And that big phony smile he's been wearing in every pic lately is starting to wear a bit thin.

That's probably why he tours so much, to get away from Melinda and her herd of dogs for a couple hours at a time while onstage.

TLOS: any comments from Mike, Al or Bruce yet? [Smiley Smile Message Board]

Just wondering...

One For the Boys with Brian's band would be kickin'.

Yeah no kidding. That's one of my favourites from BW88

Oops didn't see this topic and just replied about this in another one. I can't get my head around how BW is apparently unaware of Pacific Ocean Blue now? It just must have been erased from his memory - maybe he does have memory problems. That would be the most logical reason, either that or it's too painful for him to talk about, but then why would he ask the interviewer to fedex him a copy? You'd think a couple of months ago one of his bandmates would've said "Wow Brian, Dennis' album is being re-released. Cool, huh?" It seems really strange to me that Brian is apparently unaware of POB in interviews at the moment.

Re: Brian interview on Pitchfork [Smiley Smile Message Board]

I don't know. Surely he did once know about Pacific Ocean Blue, right - it's inconceivable to think that he never in the late 70s, hanging with his brother and all, never realised Dennis had released an album?! So he must have either forgotten about it, or it's too painful to talk about? That is a bizarre and awkward interview - you feel for the guy conducting it, but you'd think he'd not bother asking about a BB reunion. That has to be the sure-fire way of getting BW to clam up.

I figure Brian didn't like the guy or was in one of his moods.

Of course I don't know how this came out, but it could've been a sarcastic reaction (or a reaction that could've been interpreted as being sarcastic)... I guess it could have been the reason:

Quote
BW: No. I didn't even know he made an album.

Pitchfork: Okay, sure. That was quite a number of years ago, I know. Obviously, this album is about California, and you've lived there your whole life. Is there any other part of the United States that you could see yourself living?

Yeah, I think a good hard rockin' album is a great idea for Brian, I wouldn't mind "Proud Mary," but another cover would be great; as well as a good eight or ten new BW rockers. If "Goin' Home" is any indication, he can do those very well now.

One thing that I've been thinking of, though, it would be nice to have Brian do half of the lead vocals and half, Scott, Darian, Taylor and Jeff do one each, to add to the diversity. I think that would work out very well. Any thoughts?

Pleasure Island

AN ALBUM OFFERING BY BRIAN WILSON

Yes, he's BACK and BETTER THAN EVER! The legendary Brian Wilson, formerly of the fabulous Beach Boys, has released his follow-follow-up to the legendary SMiLE LP of 2004. The album will feature some covers of legendary songs rewritten in Brian's signature style, as well as some newbies but goodies, for those of you who believe Brian hasn't written a melody worth a damn since the Vietnam War.

HA! It's a HOAX! No "Proud Mary" in the tracklist!!!  Grin

Re: BW's contract with Capitol [Smiley Smile Message Board]

Posted: 09 Sep 2008 05:43 AM CDT

From what I can tell, Capitol have done a fair bit to promote TLOS in the USA...but I have seen nothing in the UK.

My thoughts are, either Capitol thought the UK was a sewn-up market as far as BW is concerned and that they did not need to do anything....or that they can't be arsed with the UK.

Mistake either way. Brian is still quite mainstream here, and I believe he could still score a major hit album or single. ..but people need to know the product is out there. I can't even find it on the shelves where I live, and it's not often even been in amazon.co.uk's top 100....

I always get the feeling that threads like these are just a huge advertising sham.

You're feeling is correct on this one...

Couldn't we just delete this thread then? People like this annoy me.

Agreed. And speaking from a purely moral perspective, it's only a good thing that we here always write objective and impartial about Brian Wilson.

You are wrong. Going to sleep as a man and waking up as a woman isn't half as bad as looking at the photo above.

Pat Boone makes sense. He popularized rock and roll for white audiences. Sure, he's corny, but he was a pioneer, and the reason people like Little Richard have the respect and acclaim today is because Pat Boone made them popular for kids in the suburbs.

The Brisbane (Oz) Courier Mail  writer did a joint article about TLOS and POB a couple of weeks ago. He had a phone interview with Brian and he asked Brian what he thought  about the POB reissue. Brian asked the journo in Oz to Fedex him a copy so he could hear it!

That's a very typical Brian interview, from Brian's side of it, anyway. I like how at the end Brian was basically like "Okay, I'm done, leave."
